Middlesex School District is now using the SchoolMessenger callout service to phone you about emergencies, school closings, delayed openings and early dismissals, as well as to remind you about school activities and important dates. As we look to reduce the paper we send home, we will be increasingly using SchoolMessenger to email forms and pertinent school and district information.
  • Each parent/guardian has a SchoolMessenger account, so each parent will receive messages on the primary phone and email we have listed for you.
  • Please sign up for the SchoolMessenger App immediately so that you get the information you want, the way you want it!
  • The district has automatically added one primary phone number and one email per parent/guardian to SchoolMessenger to receive notifications. If you want to receive messages at any other phone number or email address, you must add this contact information through the App. 
The SchoolMessenger App provides access to all the messages and information sent by Middlesex Borough Schools in one place. Accessible from any internet-enabled device, the SchoolMessenger App visually displays and organizes alerts, notifications, and attachments for easy review and reference.

The SchoolMessenger App provides you with the ability to
  1. view and listen to messages sent from your school or district
  2. customize how you receive messages from the school or district
If you download the App on your mobile phone, you will be able to receive push notifications.

In order to sign up for the App, you must have a valid email address and it must be listed in Genesis Parent Portal. If you have a Genesis Parent Portal account, you will use your Parent Portal email address. 
What is the SchoolMessenger App? The SchoolMessenger App allows parents to listen to phone messages that were sent to them, and to view texts and emails that they received. Additionally, their contact information can be viewed, and notification preferences set, allowing parents to choose which channel they prefer to receive messages via: (phone, email, text, or all of the above).

How do I sign up? You can sign up either by downloading the SchoolMessenger App, or by going to When downloading the App: Choose the “SchoolMessenger” App with the BLUE ICON. 

If signing up through the website:
  • Click SIGN UP at the top right corner of the screen.
  • Enter the parent or guardian’s email address on file with the District or associated your Parent Portal Account.
Important: You must use the email address connected to your Parent Portal address to sign up for the SchoolMessenger App. If you do not have a parent portal account, please contact your child's school.
  • Create and enter a new password for the account. Your password must have at least one lowercase letter, one uppercase letter, one number, and be at least 6 characters long.
  •  You will be sent an email shortly after, and will need to click the link in the email to verify your account.
    Note: This link is only active for 24 hours. If you don’t click on it, and log into the SchoolMessenger App within this time, you will have to repeat the sign up process! If you receive an “already claimed by another user account” error message, that means you’ve already created a SchoolMessenger account. Simply return to the login screen, and click “Forgot your password” if needed, to reset your password.
  • You should now be able to log into the SchoolMessenger App. You can view messages from the past 30 days, and edit your preferences to configure how you would like to receive notifications.
If signing up through the App: Upon opening the App, click the “Sign Up” button. Then enter your email address that is on file with the school district. Follow directions above to set your password and to verify your account. Return to the SchoolMessenger App. Enter the same email address and password you used to create the account.
How do I select my preferred method of communication? 
Web Portal: Click the preferences link at the top. If you do not wish to receive calls for AM closings or delays, make sure you turn those notifications off.
App: Click the menu icon (top left) and select "Preferences." If you do not wish to receive calls for AM closings or delays, make sure you turn those notifications off.
How do I add phone numbers, email addresses and text messaging to the App? You will be able to add additional phone numbers and email addresses in the App by going to Preferences and clicking the "Add More" (plus sign) button on the right side of your screen.
